Solar-Terrestrial Centre of Excellence

The Solar-Terrestrial Centre of Excellence (STCE) is a Belgian expertise centre focused on the relation and interaction Sun-Earth. It provides valorised solar and solar-terrestrial research and services.
The STCE studies the variability of the Sun and the origin of space weatheri, the interaction between the solar windii and the Earth's magnetospherei and its consequences in the ionospherei. Space weatheri effects in the ionospherei influencing performances of technological systems based on radio waves and navigation make also part of the science done at the STCE. The Sun's influence on Earth's climate is studied in the context of the solar irradiance and ozonei-aerosols measurements.
More general, the STCE is active in the field of space weatheri and space physics data: collecting, storage and scientific and service oriented exploitation.
